First Quilt Finished!

Well it took a little over 5 months and that included 4 months of 6th semester (from hell lol). I decided to attach the binding with my machine- my wrists are too sore for that much hand stitching at the moment. I way over calculated how much binding I needed lol I only used about half the roll ( maybe I flipped the measure tape to cm who knows?!).

I posted the other day about making those tea squares into hot pads then received a text from my good friend (who doesn’t read the blog unless I tell her too and send the link again!

Next project will be to make hot pads and oven mitts for me (work out any bugs) than make them for her!!!
I’m very excited!
Also there are 2 baby’s coming – a new nephew!!!! And my Chris’s niece!!!!
I will probably try harder to keep lines straight or just free motion them- this quilt for my couch was about learning so I wasn’t concerned with mistakes – in fact I am embracing them!!!!

Small steps but forward ones

Finished the horizontal stitching…debated for 20 minutes while watching She-Ra whether to get crazy and quilt it more. Decided to keep it simple for the first quilt haha!

The next step is binding it. I believe I am ready to start that tomorrow.

Chris held it up for a moment today:

Finally putting the quilt layers together yay!

So sometime after the day – the library – the bank – walk the dog – do 1000 dishes – make dinner – do 1000 more dishes!! I decided tonight I would spray baste my quilt pieces together and start quilting!
I put the walking foot on the machine (no problemo!) (!awesome-sauce!) loaded up the chosen thread:

A nice variegated purple – only I’m wondering if it is too dark? Meh for a first go it’s perfecto!

I did a whole bunch of vertical lines – tomorrow I will do the horizontal ones.

Chris says I should stop there but maybe yes maybe no – I may want to add more quilting that that – I have not made up my mind yet.

There were no major discombobulations so I’d say tonight was a complete success!!
It is now something like 1:30am – I ran the dog out to pee and the crazies are out so we ran back in (I absolutely detest this neighbourhood! Moving by the summer or die trying)
I think I have outlasted Chris in the awake department (again lol) so I should probably brush my teeth and climb into bed – key word “should.”

Tea!!

I was playing with some fabric last night and made a couple squares this morning. Not sure whether to put them aside for now or turn them into pot holders…

Stockings Complete!

A day late, a buck short but done dee done done 🙂
Chris kept saying finish them tomorrow – but it’s my goal to finish them today – and so I did!

The top of Hayden’s stocking is unfortunately upside down – but I don’t think anyone cares so meh it’s all good!

I feel like I am ready to start quilting the quilt now. I am confident enough now and it’s not half as intimidating as it was before. Chris is playing video games and he insists on narrating and getting me to look at his people every 5 minutes…lol I don’t care!
He bought me a Keurig today so that’s very nice 🙂 Yesterday I wanted to stab him in the head with a machete. That’s totally an exaggeration btw – I would never harm anyone – I was just so mad! That’s men for you though…can’t live with them – keep them around anyway?!
My house is a massive mess. I’m pretty sure I should do something about that. Maybe tomorrow…

I made 1!!!!!!!

I worked on it all day pretty much. My 3 kids went for their first visit with their dad in 3 months & we had my boyfriends 3 year old and boy you forget how much energy they have at that age!!!! Just Go! Go! Go!

So it was a lot of fun – I didn’t anticipate how hard it would be to see a straight line haha but I think it turned out all right 🙂

Stockings

Now that I have everything I need to put my quilt together I’m scared to start!!!! And it’s been impossible to do anything this week cause every 5 minutes something else needs me. Today I was hanging with hubby’s daughter and wow forgot how much pure and insane energy little kids have!!!

I’ve started cutting out fabric for the stockings.
…I think I know roughly where I’m going with this lol 🙂 my little helper had fun disassembling my piles.

Discovered Pumpkin Pi had blood in his urine today- cause I needed a vet bill right now. Cause it’s not like I have any money for anything – it’s not like I spent what little I had at the fabric store…oh God why am I such a boob?!?!

Poor kitty meds will kick in soon!!

One step over a ledge and into an Abyss

So – I got a little excited and picked up a walking foot – spray adhesive, thread and batting yesterday!!!
So I laid it on the bed this morning cause I have to cut it and stitch it so it will be the right shape.

Then I made a critical error and left the house to take my girlfriends car to get some new tires.

While I was out stupid cats damaged the batting. Grrrrrr 😡
Oh well. Also want to make stockings so I bought some Christmassy fabrics!

I wasn’t supposed to spend any money so I’m hoping Chris doesn’t freak out when he finds out I bought like 7-8 yards of stuff…
